One Year!

A year ago today we dropped Jesse off at the MTC and said goodbye for two years. I know for everyone else, especially him, it has gone by fast but for a mother it seems like forever. He is doing so well and loving the Dominican Republic, he is meeting so many people and having a hard time thinking of saying goodbye to them in one more year. I am very proud of him for all the hard work he is doing, the people of the DR are very lucky to have him there. Happy 1 year mark Elder Westergard!!

Fun Week in Utah!

Kell and I went and stayed at my sister's house for a week, I always love to go there, Bonnie and Jim always treat us so good and are so fun to be around, thanks guys for letting us crash there for a week and taking the time off to entertain us. While we were there Bonnie was watching her grand daughter Kate for the week while Keith and Sara went to Mexico, I fell in love with this little sweetie, she is the best baby and an absolute doll, I hope I can be as good of a Nanna as my Sis is. It was fun to return to my old stomping grounds and go to the Bountiful parade for the Utah Pioneer Day Celebration. I took pictures of the schools I attended and had to take the Utah Utes where Lynn graduated from.

Paces Dairy Ann ice cream truck, we use to by ice cream from this truck when I was a little girl, its still the best place to go when we visit home.

We did a little bowling while we were there, it was fun to have the cousins together and my niece Audra, they pretty much showed me up in bowling, I should of used the bumpers to keep my ball from going in the gutter, oh well, we had a lot of fun and laughs.

This is my shot, I couldn't believe how these three pins stayed up.

I love this Picture

My Sis and Niece

I finally had my sister teach me how to make the famous Haacke family recipe of Sauerkraut and Dumplings. This is a must if you are a Haacke, my Mom made these about once every year, something she had to learn when she married my Dad. There really isn't a recipe to follow just ingredients and you go by the feel of it, but I think I can do it now so when I get home to AZ I will practice on my family, get ready Lexi and Jared. My Sis Carol took the day off and us three got to work it takes about 6 hours to make them and after all our hard work the family all came out and had a Haacke dumpling dinner. We missed those who were not able to come, but I know Mom and Dad would of been proud of us all getting together and for me learning to make them.

Dinner at Ruth Chris Steakhouse

For our anniversary dinner Lynn took me to Ruth Chris, I have only been there one other time and it was as good as I remembered it. They new it was our anniversary so they gave us the five star treatment. They came and sprinkled confetti on our table that said Happy Anniversary. It was a lot of food and not cheep but well worth it, especially the desert.

Yum-O steak and Au Gratin Potatoes and can't have a steak without mushrooms!!

Apple Crisp - it melted in your mouth!!

Awesome the 2nd time..

We enjoyed our night at Wicked and yes I loved it the 2nd time around, it was fun having the kids with us and going to dinner before, now I need to catch up with my friend Joni who has seen it 9 times.

Happy 26th Anniversary

Twenty Six years ago today I remember waking up early to the sound of thunder and pouring rain, then the door to my bedroom opened, it was my dad asking me if I was ok. He must of heard me crying and moaning about it raining on my wedding day, all I could think about was how awful I was going to look in my pictures (those with natural curly hair will understand). My dad was very comforting and as he prayed with me he said it would stop by the time we got out of the temple. Sure enough it did and it was beautiful with clouds still in the sky to make a beautiful background.

Lynn and I dated after he returned home from his mission, my ward that I grew up in was divided and our street was put into his. When he got home we went to the young adult activities and one night after a softball game at mosquito park he asked me to go get a drink with him, thats all it took, I was hooked. We dated about a year and on Easter which was also my birthday he gave me a basket full of fun things and as I was opening my gifts his sister came down stairs (whenever Lynn and I were down stairs his Mom would send Karin down to get a bottle of peaches, I use to think wow they eat a lot of peaches). She was looking at my gifts and opened a plastic egg wanting to see the prize, she held a ring in her hand and first thought it was one of those fake ones and then realized it was real, she politely handed it to me and went up stairs, I felt so bad for her she was so upset. I love you Karin.

We were married July 15, 1983 in the Salt Lake City Temple and spent our honeymoon in Star Valley Wyoming at his grandparents cabin, and to this day is still our favorite place to go every summer. Im grateful for the good husband Lynn is, he has been there for me through difficult times and we have shared so many wonderful times. We are so blessed with our four beautiful children and daughter-in-law, our greatest accomplishment. Happy Anniversary Lynn!
