JaKelle and I went to see this movie "Letters to God" today, I didn't know what it was about but Kell has been wanting to see it. I had no idea it was going to be as sad as it was, but it has a really good message, one I think with how things are in this world, we could use more movies like this, to remind us that we can turn to God with prayer and in this boys way it was through his letters he wrote. Theres a couple of cheesy parts but that didn't stop us from crying our eyes out.

Here is just a little preview: Letters to God is an inspirational and heart touching story of a young boy Tyler (Tanner Maguire) affected by cancer. The beginning of the movie trailer shows us the boy writing a letter, which turns out to be a letter to God. He pens his prayers, sending them to God via his substitute postman Jeff (Brady McDaniels), who is unsure of what exactly he should do with them. Jeff who is feeling pretty lost in his own life, is touched by the boy’s letters and how much hope and courage this 8-year old carries within.

Easter/Birthday 2010

From time to time my birthday will either be on the same weekend as Easter or on Easter which happened when I got engaged. So with Easter, Birthday and Conference it was a pretty busy weekend. We all got together on Saturday and went to lunch for my birthday, enjoyed a day watching conference and colored Easter eggs, my favorite thing to do still. We opened my presents and Lynn did a good job of surprising me this year, he gave me a Ipad he had ordered knowing they were coming out on my birthday, very sneaky. My kids game me a pretty bracelet and good smelling Bath and Body lotion. After the men got back from Priesthood we all went to dinner at a place called "The Keg" its a really good steak house. Thank you to my friends and family who made my day special, I appreciated your visits, presents and phone calls, I love you all.

For Easter Jared and Lexi came over for dinner, we ate alot and then had our Easter Egg Hunt. I hide 4 golden eggs with money in them, which is pretty fun watching them trying to find those, rule this year was they couldn't run cause of Josh's leg, so it was a very fast pace walk. It was a great day being with family and being able to listen to our Prophet and other leaders as we celebrated this special Easter day.

Young Women Meeting

One of the wonderful things about being in Young Women and being a Mother of a Young Women is being able to attend the General Young Women's Meeting every year. Seeing all these beautiful young girls gather and sing and have the opportunity to hear a message from a member of the Firs Presidency and from each member of the YW general presidency, really gives me the hope and comfort in these scary times. This years theme is "Be Strong and of a Good Courage" (Joshua 1:9) President Monson has taught, "You are some of our Heavenly Father's strongest children, and...with His help, you will have the courage to face whatever comes."

I look forward to going with my daughter JaKelle and hear the inspired messages from our leaders, then its back to our house with all the YW and their Mothers for some good Mexican food.

Happy Spring Break

Being married to an Accountant is really not the best time for Spring Break, especially for the person who is the Accountant (Lynn). I've always said that I think they picked an awful time for tax season. Its during the most beautiful time of the year (which stinks for an Accountant (Lynn) because they spend most of their Saturdays working when they wish they were golfing) and for Spring Break they can't take off alot of time to go anywhere. But I am married to a really awesome Accountant (Lynn) who lets me take my daughter and go visit my family in Utah. I am looking forward to getting away and spending time with my sisters.

Spring has Sprung!!

I Love the Daffodils but they don't last very long in my yard.

How can it be that its already the middle of March? It just seems like I was just wrapping my last Christmas present to put under the tree. Although I love March, actually I love the next three months, it is my favorite time of the year. I love that my trees are almost in full bloom, I love that the weather stays in the 70's, I love that there is Spring Break and I get to go away with my daughter for a week and its usually March that I see an end to my allergies, if I make it past February without a shot then I am happy. Some of the pictures I love are from my yard as it is blooming, except for the one where I can't keep the ducks out of the pool.

My Lemon Tree

My Orange Tree

This tree looks just like a popcorn tree every spring and stinks really bad (not a big fan with my kids) but after all the blossoms blow away its one of my favorites.

Every once in a while these ducks show up and make a mess on the deck, they have even dropped eggs into the pool (yuck) I've had a hard time keeping that bb gun in the closet.

Home Grown Tomatoes - nothing better!!

New Cookie Recipe

I tried this new cookie recipe the other day for a youth fireside, I usually make my same old Toll House Cookies but thought these looked good. They suggest using Ghirardelli semisweet chocolate chips, they have oatmeal and cinnamon in them and even calls for a little lemon juice. I thought they were really good, Lynn didn't like the chocolate chips, but he doesn't like any other cookie than my Toll House ones. So you should make these and decide for yourself, I love Ghirardelli chocolate so it was a winner for me.

Long Lost Chocolate Chip Cookies

1/2 cup quick cooking oats
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup butter (2 squares)
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup white sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
2 eggs
3 cups semisweet premium chocolate chips (Ghirardelli) I only used 2 cups
1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine the oats, flour, soda, salt and cinnamon. In a separate bowl, cream together the butter, sugars, vanilla and lemon. Add eggs and mix until smooth. Stir in dry ingedients. Mix in chocolate chips and nuts. Spoon rounded balls onto a cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes or until light golden brown on outside but still soft in the middle.
