At the Schwieder reunion we went on a never ending (it seemed) hike up to a monument where Aunt Jeans girls camp went 50 years ago. There was a terrible storm that came in and 4 girls and 1 yw leader was killed by lightening. They build a monument in their honor and when we finally reached the destination Aunt Jean shared her story of what happened. It was very hard for her to relive those memories, being in Young Women's I can't imagine going through something like that, it was beautiful and so worth all the hard climbing and walking to see the beautiful waterfalls and valley below.

View from top of the mountain

I made it to the top to see the wind caves, to much water coming out to go in. This was where the young women and 1 priesthood leader went in the day of the storm, when then Brother Miller was the last out he saw the storm and tried to yell at the girls to get out from under the trees, that when the lightening struck where the girls were, it threw him and was knocked out.

pretty waterfall almost to the top.

Monument dedicated to the leader and girls.

We came upon snow.

So beautiful and green.
